Dr. Matthew Crawford, a Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia is the author of the recent bestseller . Dr. Crawford led the Welcome Week discussion, arguing that one’s time at a university is for the cultivation of the intellect rather than a training ground for a career.

Mr. Edwin Meese III who holds the Ronald Reagan Chair in Public Policy at The Heritage Foundation helped members of the Forum celebrate Constitution Day, September 17th, with a lecture entitled “Is the Constitution Relevant Today?”

"Freedom, the Human Vocation, and the Catholic University" Dr. Mark Shiffman


Dr. Mark Shiffman, Assistant Professor of Humanities and Classical Studies at Villanova University, gave a lecture on “Freedom, the Human Vocation, and the Catholic University”.  Dr. Shiffman argued, granted that liberal education is self-understanding, the Catholic university best "frees reason to be free" and, thus, best accomplishes the mission of the university.
