Monica Curca is a seasoned facilitator, designer, researcher, cultural organizer, and strategist specializing in Peacebuilding, Conflict Transformation, Deep Democracy, social movements and narrative change. Monica is the founder and director of Activate Labs, a global NGO that activates, organizes and amplifies peacebuilding social movements. She can often be found training and facilitating workshops on deep democracy, narrative change, participatory action research, Peace Design@, art for resistance, and Fractal Peacebuilding. Monica champions the vision "We must shift power by sharing power." co-creating shared futures through her innovative Peace Design™ methodology.
With extensive leadership experience, Monica has served as the Director of Nonviolent Action at the United States Institute of Peace and as the Director of the +Peace global coalition. Over nearly two decades, she has been a relational organizer, working closely with communities and social movements across more than 10 countries. Fluent in Spanish, English, and Romanian, Monica brings an intersectional approach to her work in peacebuilding and social social movements. Monica was awarded two master degrees in Conflict and Co-Existence and in Sustainable International Development from the Heller School of Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.
