Highlights from the 2024 Institute

The PS-PSI 2024 brought 18 sophomores, juniors, and seniors in college considering a Ph.D. in political science to the Georgetown campus.
PS-PSI is remarkably helpful for determining whether a PhD is the right path for you! After this program, I feel confident that if the PhD is a path I pursue in the future, I will be well equipped for success.

The Georgetown PS-PSI provided an incredibly detailed look into a Ph.D. in political science. Presentations from faculty, professionals, and Ph.D. students were engaging, contained extremely valuable information, and included time for breaks. Research Proposal presentations spurred us to think critically on our proposed doctoral research and immersed us into scholarly conversation with our fellow predoctoral scholars. Mentorship with faculty and PhD students was thoughtfully facilitated with consideration towards each students’ political science subfield interests. Within and beyond formal programming, the student cohort was valuable in gaining new insights for our research and building connections across institutions. Overall, the PS-PSI Director and Ph.D. ambassadors were committed towards making this experience the best it could be for students and were open to hearing our feedback and concerns. I strongly recommend that students with serious interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in political science or an adjacent discipline apply to the Georgetown PS-PSI.
