Highlights from the 2022 Institute

The PS-PSI 2022 brought 19 juniors and seniors in college considering a Ph.D. in political science to the Georgetown campus from June 06 to June 10.

Growing up, I never considered that graduate school, yet alone a PHD, could be a reality for me. The PS-PSI gave a honest, accessible, and informative view of what it looks like to pursue a PHD, especially for students from marginalized backgrounds. As a participant, I was able to hear from students and faculty on why pursuing a PHD can be intellectually enriching and a way to pursue your passions in a rewarding environment. While I ultimately pursed a different form of graduate school, pursuing a joint PHD is still in the back of mind because of the time I spent at this institute!

PS-PSI gave me a deep understanding of what it truly means to work as a researcher and what it takes to build a career in research. The insights and mentorship I received in this program have guided me throughout my remaining undergraduate years, shaped my post-graduation experiences, and continue to influence me as I return to academia.
