We will discuss the implications for theory and practice of the study of political violence, drawing on Professor Kalyvas’ recent interview with Scott Stauss on 20 years of work on defining, quantifying and thinking about political violence.
Stathis Kalyvas is the Gladstone Professor of Government at the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford and a fellow of All Souls College. He was formerly the Arnold Wolfers Professor of Political Science at Yale University, where he founded and headed the Program on Order, Conflict and Violence. He is the author of The Logic of Violence in Civil War (Cambridge University Press, 2006).
