Admissions Information

The application deadline is January 15, 2024 for entering the MA in American Government Program in Fall 2024. 

Specific information about application requirements can be found under Graduate Program Admissions on the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences website.

Applications must include:

  • a resume or CV
  • an unofficial copy of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts (if you have previously enrolled in a graduate program)
  • a statement of purpose (approximately 500 words)
  • an academic writing sample (10-20 pages)
  • three (3) letters of recommendation, to be requested by the student but submitted electronically by the recommender
  • application fee
  • GRE Test Scores

For non-native English-speaking applicants, the TOEFL is required.

All applications must be filed electronically through the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences website.

Applicants are required to upload to the application system unofficial transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended. Do not send electronic or paper copies of your transcripts before receiving an offer of admission. Tuition and Fees

For the 2023-2024 school year, the Graduate School tuition rate is $2,452 per credit hour.  All graduate students, with the exception of Biomedical students, will be assessed tuition charges based on the number of credit hours for which the student is enrolled. Learn more.

Please note that full time Georgetown students are required to carry health insurance, either through a Georgetown or an equivalent plan. For further information, please consult Georgetown’s Student Affairs website.

“Yates” Recreational Fee: All full-time students are also required to pay a recreational facility fee (known as the “Yates” fee). This fee is optional for part-time students. For further information, please consult the Yates website.
